J O B

Security Guard
Working alongside the security team, Gwen ensures any undesirable nuisances in the Circus are properly dealt with. Because of her nocturnal tendencies, she focuses most of her attention on night patrols to ensure nothing unfortunate happens while others rest. She is incredibly efficient with her work due to her past experience as a gangster, and she obeys her superiors without question or hesitation.

P R O M O T I O N

Solicitor
Gwen's secondary job is to go out of the grounds and gain positive publicity for Circus Darkrai. She is responsible for bringing in as much revenue as possible by advertising to the masses however which way she sees fit, whether its talking casually with a group, or striking advertising deals with local businesses. With a decade of experience in business (despite how unconventional her first round was), she is well equipped and quite intent on succeeding no matter where the circus goes.

W I S H

"I wish I was free of this damn rock! I want nothing more to do with it!"
With Gwen's family long gone and her gang in pieces, the Spiritomb had nowhere else to go. Identifying her Odd Keystone as the source to her troubles, she wished it away, half hoping she would disappear with it. Instead, Mr. Dark released her from the Keystone, but at a cost. Now she walks a free Spiritomb, unchained from her prison of stone...bound to a new one disguised as a circus.
WISH DETAILS / BACKFIRE
● If Gwen were to leave the circus without the intention to return, her Keystone would become inaccessible
● Leaving her Keystone behind would mean leaving a piece of her psyche behind, and negative aspects of her character would begin overtake her
● Gwen's aggressiveness and unpredictability would make her less rational, which will lead to poor decisions
● These decisions will eventually kill her off in some way if she didn't return to the circus to use her Keystone again
● Gwen would also not be able to heal at a normal rate or sleep soundly without her Keystone functioning as it should, which it only does in the circus

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Having worked for a decade as a gangster in one of the most powerful crime syndicates in Sinnoh, Gwendolyn Blake has had her entire being manipulated by life in the streets. Given the nature of her old job, and the job she has now, the woman is exceedingly observant, and picks up on very small things in her surroundings and from others whom she’s in the presence of. Her keen eyes and vast amount of patience were necessary when she was working for her old boss Salem Mallory, and she pays special attention to things that she can use to her advantage in whatever situation. She keeps her mind open to the possibilities that can come of a particular case, though it is clear that she has a preference for how things work. Now that she has been in the circus for so long, there’s very few things this Spiritomb hasn’t seen, so she feels ready for anything thrown her way. She has the skills and the smarts to do as she pleases, and though she may not be an expert in all subjects, she’s got the knowledge she needs to do what she must as efficiently as possible - and boy, is she efficient. Gwendolyn doesn’t ask pointless questions, she doesn’t hesitate, she doesn’t rebel for the sake of rebellion, and she gets her work done fast and she gets it done well. She expects no less from herself, and she knows her superiors expect no less either. Her loyalty to those in rightful command is unquestionable and true until her dying death. Gwen was made to be a tool, and a tool you could use until you simply no longer needed it.

However, every tool has its flaws. Gwendolyn was made to reject connections to people, and compassion is a concept she has been drilled to forget. She was trained to use the negative emotions of others, which provide her energy, against them - thus, making her a spiteful being herself. She detests weakness in others and in herself, and will push others away should they come too close for comfort. As far as she is concerned, nothing is meant to last forever, so forging a friendship or a romantic relation that will only crumble in time is a pointless endeavor. It would be very difficult to befriend the Spiritomb anyway - she is unbelievably closed off, as she was trained to be ambitious in order to earn her place in the male-dominated ranks of the gang. She has no problems causing serious and potentially permanent injury, so long as she sends the message she wants to by doing so. She remembers even the most minor of wrongs done onto her, and holds confidence only in herself to retaliate to wrongdoings appropriately. Her disapproval is not very subtle either. Her two-faced behavior makes her unpredictable, as you can never really tell if what she says to you is a truth or a lie. She acts as she pleases when she’s not under the command of another, and her actions are hardly anything you’d expect out of a female in this time frame. Keep in mind, Gwen believes in nothing but facts. She doesn’t trust others, she doesn’t believe in an Arceus, and she ensures by doing so that she is never disappointed by surprise. Overall, Gwen expects the best but prepares for the worst - and she doesn’t trust you or anyone else to do what she can do after one simple command is given. She is a gangster, and will carry this mindset with her until her days are done.

H I S T O R Y

Hometown : Solaceon Town, Sinnoh
Family : Xavier (Father - Mega Gengar), Desdemona (Mother - Spiritomb), Nemora (Younger Sister - Spiritomb), Ronan (Younger Half-Brother - Mega Gallade)
Pets : Lucius (Murkrow ♂) Talzin (Type-Swapped Alolan Ninetales )

Gwendolyn, was brought into this world trapped within an Odd Keystone, as all of her kind were. Comprised of 108 evil spirits each, she and her sister, a shiny Spiritomb named Nemora, grew up knowing that they were feared in their hometown of Solaceon in Sinnoh, despite the fact that neither of them did anything to disrupt the lives of the townsfolk...unless you count existing as a type of disturbance. Gwen was the oldest, but she was not even a legal adult when the girl's’ mother, Desdemona, left them in the care of their father, a Gallade named Xavier. Why she left, the girls didn’t know. Gwen stepped up in her mother’s place, raising Nemora on her own for the most part, since Xavier was rarely available thanks to the extra work he had to do to support himself and his children. Though he was very supportive and loving for the girls, Xavier wasn't present in the their lives too often, so the superstitious townspeople saw that as an opportunity. Resentment towards the House of Blake had been growing steadily leading up to Desdemona's disappearance, and though the girls did not know quite why this was, they knew for a fact that they were not spared from the malice of the townspeople. Xavier tried what he could to help the girls - even going so far as to teach them fighting tactics to use on anyone who dared try to hurt them. Being an ex-military commander, Xavier's lessons did the girls some good, and it laid the foundation for what would come to be Gwen's current fighting style. Still, even with the sparring she did with her father, nothing could prepare Gwendolyn nor her sister for the wrath of the town.

No one in town dared touch them at first, but harsh words were spat upon the sisters whenever they went into town. Unlike Gwen, who could ignore or spit back insults thrown her way, Nemora didn't know how to handle the hatred she got. She was naturally a sweet girl, but she didn't understand how the town could hate her and Gwen so much when they had done nothing wrong. She became afraid of the others to the point where she would refuse to leave the house, and had a mental break down the one time Gwen tried to make her go out. Seeing her sister's unbridled fear bothered Gwen, but the older sister could not snap at her sibling, instead assuring her that she would never again have to face the wicked townspeople. And so, Gwen began to go into town alone, and the others began to approach the lone Spiritomb more aggressively. Gwen was about 16 years old when she endured her first real attack - she was struck by a Roselia because she had apparently gotten "too close for comfort". Though she wasn't really hurt, Gwen lashed out violently, as most Spiritombs would, but she was outnumbered and forced to retreat. She left the Roselia with a terrible scar though, causing the town to resent the Blakes all the more.

Gwen didn't seem to care about the thoughts of the town. When she managed to clear her mind and think about it, she realized that her attackers had been aiming at her Keystone, not her body. The Keystone made Gwen's physical form a possibility, and it was one of her weakest points, always trailing her, projecting her where she wanted to go. The other mons took any opportunity to damage the stone - and Gwen could FEEL it when it was damaged. Nemo didn't help, as she still refused to outside, despite Gwen's pleas. The older Spiritomb felt her anger growing with her predicament, and she didn't let it go, allowing it to power her instead. When she went back into town, people tried to damage the stone. The hatred Gwen felt kept building until one day, she snapped when she was attacked by three at once - three who just so happened to be the mons she hated most in town - and her Keystone was thrown into a river, with the Spiritomb along with it. That was the last straw for her. Having just been nearly drowned, the Spiritomb dragged herself onto the bank and rampaged through the town, seeking revenge. She seemed to have lost all control of herself - allowing the monstrous souls within her head to egg her on. Gwen's rampage ended in disaster though, as she struck down one of her own. Xavier, her father, came to the scene to calm Gwen down and defend her from the frenzy of townspeople - but seeing his elbow blades rip through his jacket triggered a violent response. Powered by her souls, she struck Xavier from behind with a Dark Pulse attack, tearing a hole through his body. The Gallade fell...and he never got back up again. Seeing her father's corpse allowed Gwendolyn to snap out of it...but she was too late. Nothing could bring her father back to her, no matter how much she begged him to get up. She mourned her loss right where he fell never once minding the hateful eyes of the townspeople watching her from afar. Nemora, upon hearing the news snapped. She lost what little remained of her composure and ran away - though, she didn't leave before attacking her own sister and spitting vile insults her way. Nemora had had enough though, and she took her young Ponyta Zeph onto Route 19...and was never seen again. It is unclear what became of her, but the fact remains that no one has seen nor heard from the Spiritomb in over a decade.

Gwen stayed put, and let her anger, sorrow, self-loathing, and bitterness keep eating her alive - until she received a very interesting offer from a Banette who came to town. He proposed that she come with him to the city where she could put her power to good use, after a bit of training. With the death penalty looming over her, she accepted the offer without much hesitation, and was employed into an infamous crime syndicate in Veilstone City. The Banette, who she came to know as Levi, since his name was ridiculously long, taught her how to master Shadow Sneak, a move she'd tried teaching herself for years. She learned how to sink into the shadows, unseen and unheard. She could vanish and reappear in the blink of an eye and use her other moves to cause chaos in a crowd. Her training was not that pleasant of an experience, however - Levi may have come off as a gentleman, but he was a ruthless mentor. He taught Gwen what she knew through means of repetition, striking her again and again without warning until she learned to keep her guard up and fight back. She learned through the pain of her failures and her mistakes. Though she seemingly hated the man, she remained grateful to him for saving her from Solaceon. Her loyalty was unshakable. Levi, though he appeared not to truly care about his pupil in the least, was truly perplexed and rather pleased, in a sense. He enjoyed her sharp tongue, constantly engaging in heated conversation with her that sometimes even came to blows. Yet, that was another thing he liked about her - she was a capable combatant. Eventually the Banette stopped using his typical teaching methods with the woman and switched instead to one more fun for the two of them, guaranteeing him not only her loyalty, but her approval as well, no longer having to deal with her hatred for him.

Finally, the man felt Gwen was ready to be made an elite member of the gang. The man in charge, a regal-looking, yet imposing Dusknoir named Salem Mallory, was the judge to impress.  After seeing what the woman could do to back up Levi's claim, Salem gave his approval and initiated Gwen into the inner circle of the syndicate. She was branded with their signature Giratina tattoo on her right shoulder as part of her initiation, and became a scout, working with Levi under Salem, who became her new boss and mentor. She went into situations without being seen, caused confusion, and disappeared to fetch the others to let the real fun begin. But, though she was taught how to sink into her shadow, the Keystone couldn't follow. She hid it at every job in a place where it would be safe from harm. This didn't always work, and she paid the price for it, gaining scars from her failures, and she grew more and more angry at herself for her weakness. Even as she gained more experience, other gangsters made fun of her and would sometimes mess with her Keystone to peeve her. She did many things to try to earn their respect, even cross-dressing as a means to trick others into believing she was a man, which worked quite well after she bound her chest and masked her voice within the voices of her souls, taking on the alias of "Mr. Blake". Only a handful of mons knew who she really was.

Levi was the only one Gwen ever fully put trust in. He taught her so much more than merely how to use Shadow Sneak - he taught her how to dance, how to manipulate Dark Pulse, how to shoot, how to hide the numerous scars on her arms from the public eye, how to socialize among the cityfolk, and how to dispose of unwanted evidence - including people - without a trace. He entrusted Gwen with many things, including the secrets of his family and his past. She in turn taught him what she knew. The two shared quite the interesting relationship. They were still able to debate and be rough with one another, but they were not incapable of being affectionate in a platonic way...at first. Salem forced Gwen to learn as well, as he said that he would not work with uneducated farm filth. Though a little offended, Gwen did indeed listen to Salem and study what he commanded. She had learned very quickly that defying Salem would bring her a world of pain, and so she was careful to do as she was ordered to by him, no matter what the circumstance...nor how degrading and truly horrible it could be.Yet, though she obeyed her boss without hesitation, Levi was the one she really put her faith in. He always seemed to know what to say to her, what to do, and how to do it. He was a man with a plan - and he and Gwen fell in love. However, their relationship was strained by life as part of the Shadow Collective. Salem strongly disapproved of any romantic relations within the group, and had been known to rip couples apart by force to maintain the infrastructure of his group. Though the man controlled many big businesses within Veilstone, he felt the need to back up every threat he made with proof using the pawns he had at his disposal in the Collective - and those who messed with his system were dealt with swiftly. Levi and Gwen tried to keep their relationship hidden, and did it well until Levi rose up in the ranks to become Salem's right hand man. Though it brought Levi a greater income, it became harder to hide his connection to Gwen. Yet, nothing could stop them as they planned for a future together.

Soon though, Gwen's new life came crashing down on her head just as her old life did. Slowly...then all at once. Her future plans with Levi were effectively ruined not only by Gwen's failure to produce a new life - but by her lover's murder. Gwen had what would be classified as a miscarriage, after nine months of unbearable stress put onto the couple by their boss and their shared lifestyle. Though it was a terrible loss for Gwen to get past, Levi never once let the woman doubt his faithfulness, and stuck with her as the two of them recovered together. Gwen was able to move on from the loss of her potential child, but what loss she was forced to face next shattered her entirely. The one night she and Levi were out to party with friends and have a good time with lowered guards, they were viciously attacked. Gwen was quickly incapacitated, and though a skilled and merciless fighter - and equipped with a Mega Stone - Levi could not overcome them alone. He was ripped open before Gwendolyn, forced to his knees with his head jerked back - and in a fluid motion, the zipper that kept his jaws shut was ripped open and clear off Levi's face, ensuring that no emergency repairs could be made. Gwendolyn's captor was unprepared for the strong reaction from the Spiritomb, as the woman struck out in sheer, unbridled rage. With her lover's life slowly seeping from his jaws, the woman flew at her attackers, some of whom escaped, but others were not as fortunate. Once she had dealt which whom she could, Gwen took Levi's dying form in her arms, knowing there was nothing she nor anyone else could do to save him. The man gave his soul up at last and lay limp in the Spiritomb's grasp, his vessel nothing more than a beaten, broken doll.

TGripped by rage and grief, Gwen faced a life without the one whom she considered her only love - and she did not take it well. She cursed the world and distanced herself from her friends, convinced that she could know no happiness in this life without the promise of suffering ten times as horrible. She shut out her feelings, refusing to feel love for anyone, be it platonic or romantic. Vowing revenge on those she felt were responsible for her pain, Gwen became one of Salem's deadliest assets. She cared not for the lives she took, her feelings on death never changing. People lived to die. And if they were to die at her hands, so be it. She didn't care how nor where she did it, so long as she obeyed Salem's orders. The only way she was finally able to get a grip on herself was when the Collective hunted down the man responsible for Levi's death - the one who had ripped his jaws open. The man was left in the custody of Gwen, allowing her a chance for revenge as she had requested - and it was a chance she gladly took. She tortured the man, mirroring what he had done to Levi. In a final act of revenge, the woman took his soul as sustenance for the ones that lived within the woman's body. Salem himself was surprised by this violence Gwen displayed whence she came before him again. No one dared approach her after that except a few of Gwen's long-time friends and her apprentice...but all was not well yet either.

There was unrest within the gang. Some believed that Salem needed to pay them more, or that he was being too secretive with them. Others caught on and realized they were being used by the man, and their tattoos were not a symbol of unity, but as a sign that they were property. The Dusknoir tried his hardest to end all who opposed him, making them examples, yet many in the gang began to resent him. They began to disobey orders, use their power for their own gain, and blame Salem if they got caught, which gave the Dusknoir quite a headache. The man entered a state of mental instability that would not allow him to trust anyone around him anymore, aside from his right hand Spiritomb. Gwen stuck with Salem whenever she was ordered to, as the man was looking for a sense of security within his own city. Finally, the night came when Salem was out and he had left Gwen to take care of his wife - a Froslass named Thana. Thana had no idea Gwendolyn was a girl at first, as she thought Gwen was really "Mr. Blake", but when Salem's home was attacked, everything came apart. Gwen's priority was to protect Thana, and she knew that - but once again, she was outnumbered and with a panicking woman to drag her down. Thankfully, help came quickly, and Salem showed up with a handful of Gwen's old friends to beat back the intruders. Unfortunately, Salem was picked out as the main target, and was stabbed in the stomach by a man he recognized as one of his own gangsters. He died before Gwendolyn and Thana, giving the Spiritomb the final order he ever gave.

With Salem dead, chaos broke out. There was a power vacuum to take the Dusknoir's place, and friends turned into foes. It didn't matter who killed Salem, it only mattered who would replace him. Caught in the middle of a deadly war zone that she had come to call her home, the Spiritomb made her move to escape with her vanishing technique, but her Keystone was still caught in the crossfire. She managed to escape it all, but she was still mortified at the ordeal. She took sanctuary at a circus. She'd heard of it from the cityfolk, and seeing all them there made her wonder what about the place was so fascinating. Thankfully, the patrons stayed away from her - most of them, at least.

Gwen was approached by a man taller than she. He was a refined-looking Darkrai, and he didn't seem at all put off by the Spiritomb. He seemed...interested even. He spoke softly, his voice icily calm, asking her what was wrong, as it was most unusual to see a Spiritomb without a smile. She snapped at him, telling the man that she had no reason to smile. All she had was a stupid rock that always got in her way. Freedom. She wanted to be free of it, anything to be free...and freedom is what he gave her. Mr. Dark offered her a wish, and - though she was skeptical - Gwen accepted, wishing to be free of her Keystone, blinded by her own misery and anger to see how vague she was being. Mr. Dark took her stone and caused her to black out upon working his dark magic, but she awakened to what she thought was a miracle. She couldn't feel the stone. The Darkrai himself even threw the stone in the air and she remained unaffected. It was amazing! In return for his miracle work, gwendolyn pledged her services to Mr. Dark - and intends to keep her word until he deems her debt paid.

Voice : Scarlett Johansson | Natasha Romanoff (Marvel's Avengers)
Personality Type : ISTJ - "The Logistician"

●  The swirling wisps behind Gwen's head are intangible - they cannot be touched, but can be manipulated by external forces such as wind, but the souls that take refuge on it don't like that.
● Gwen's pretty good at common household chores and whatnot, considering she had to take her mother's place in the home all those years ago
● She can literally harmonize with herself
●  She sleeps inside the Keystone
● Gwen knows the names of every single one of the 108 spirits she's made of and will treat them like real people sometimes
● Do NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE touch the green orb on her hat / necklace.
● She wears silver rings with her security uniform so that when she hits someone, if her hand phases through, the rings will make contact
● Gwen is an exceedingly good actor; she acts like a different person depending on what job she's called to do
● Gwen's regular attack stat isn't much to awe over, but her special attack and defensive stats are her most defining ones
● Because she lacks a true physical form, Gwen can alter her appearance much easier than most who do not have the Illusion ability, making her job that much easier

You know, I might make an application some time in the next year or two. Always been a fan of Ghost types myself. It will just be a matter of what exactly I would choose, but it will be fun to write regardless.
